THE BINSTED PRIZEJudge: Naomi Foyle
Naomi Foyle is an award-winning British-Canadian writer, editor and educator. Her most recent poetry publications include The World Cup (2010), from Waterloo Press, and Adamantine (Red Hen/Pighog Press, US/UK, 2019). She is also the author of five science fiction novels, two verse dramas, and various essays and short stories. Based in Brighton, she is a Reader in Critical Imaginative Writing at the University of Chichester and the Deputy Director of Waterloo Press.

There will be a poetry evening in St Mary’s church, Binsted on Friday June 10th 2022 when winners and commended poets will read their poems and Naomi Foyle will give a reading from her own work. An anthology of the winning and commended poems will be available there.

Entry fees
£5.00 for the first poem, £4.00 for subsequent poems, but poets aged 16-25 can enter for £3.00 per poem

STOP PRESS: CLOSING DATE CHANGED TO 19 APRIL 2022There will be a poetry evening in Binsted Church (BN18 0LL) in June 2022 as part of the Binsted Arts Festival 2022 ( 10-12 June) when prize winners will be invited to read their poems, and the judge will give a reading.
We also intend to produce an anthology of the winning and commended poems as a record and celebration of the 2022 poetry competition. The winning poem will be published in the South Downs Poetry Festival magazine, Poetry & All That Jazz.

South Downs Poetry Festival Competition Entry Form 2022RULES
Poems must be the original work of the named author and must not have been previously published or won a prize in any competition.
Poems must not exceed 50 lines, must be typed, single spaced, in Times New Roman 12 point. No author names on poems - personal details to go on entry form only
Poems being submitted to other competitions can be accepted subject to withdrawal if another prize is awarded before winners in this competition are notified.
The judge will read all entries and his decision is final. Copyright remains with the author.
Send 2 copies of poems, each on a separate sheet, with entry form, by April 14 2022 to:
